Born in Madagascar and raised in South Africa, Mickathies James is a versatile DJ and
producer who captivates every crowd. From intimate clubs and poolside parties to
underground festivals, he has done it all. Career highlights include 4x White Rabbit in a row,
performing at Bike Week Africa Main Stage, and opening for legends Timo ODV and Chunda
Munki.
With a career spanning 16 years alongside his brother Mason the Artist, Mickathies has
released his own music while mastering a fearless fusion of Drum and Bass, Dubstep, House,

Garage, Hardstyle, Psytrance, Techno, Amapiano, Gqom, Trap, Riddim, Downtempo, and Lo-
Fi. Always keeping the crowd guessing, he shifts seamlessly between genres and tempos,

creating moments of pure surprise and exhilaration on the dancefloor. Mickathies was a
standout guest at the BLACK FIRE Residency Party and album launch, leaving audiences
electrified with his dynamic energy.

He held residency at the legendary Kokos Nightclub, where he hosted and performed at countless events
alongside respected names in electronic music including Mark Stent, Chunda Munki, Kyle Watson, Timo
ODV, Veranda Panda, Prince Kaybee, Crazy White Boy, and Eats Everything.
After the closure of Kokos in 2016, he became resident DJ at Backline Nightclub from 2017–2019. He
has also performed at venues including Origin Durban and major Stones Nightclub events, further
cementing his reputation within South Africa’s club circuit.
Today, Mickathies James focuses heavily on Drum & Bass, Hybrid Techno, and Bass Music,
specializing in high-energy sets from 140 BPM and above. Known for professional delivery, strong stage
presence, and crowd-focused performances, he continues developing original music projects including
upcoming releases titled “The Extinct Timeline” and “April She Was”
